Comic sensation Will Ferrell (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, ANCHORMAN) plays Ricky Bobby, a figure who is at once laughably ridiculous, infuriating, and loveable. Though it is one of America's most popular sporting events, the association of NASCAR with uneducated, backwards rednecks seems cemented into the American consciousness. So the brilliant comedy TALLADEGA NIGHTS: THE BALLAD OF RICKY BOBBY, is not just a side-splitting series of slapstick pratfalls and over-the-top accents, but a lens into an important part of American culture. Though many of the jokes are easy laughs (having Ferrell run around shirtless is a guaranteed guffaw-fest), the script (co-written by Farrell and Adam McKay) is nuanced and intelligent, lending its characters much more sympathy and complexity than dumber comedies are want to do. Every performer--from Ferrell to Amy Adams (as Susan, Bobby's fawning assistant)--tackles his or her part with joy and relish. A hilarious humdinger of a movie with smarts and savvy, TALLADEGA NIGHTS ensures Ferrell's position as one of comedy's shining talents.

A very very sad load of old ballads
This film is about a racecar driver who loses everything and then finds his path back to the big time. Cor Blimey Chief as Penfold use to say, what a load of old sh*t, which he didn't say. I sat though bad acting, bad accents, especially from Sacha Baron Cohen and a bad story that made me wish I hadn't watched such an awful film as this.
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is a bit of a mess, but it is a genial mess, and one that will make you laugh. Which is the whole idea.
Even if you feel sheepish and abashed the next morning, it is hard to resist smiling at the antics of the NASCAR racing champion with two first names, a man, as the ads testify, "who could only count to #1."

This movie was hillarious. I hate watching racing but with Will Farrell behind the wheel I'm glad to be along for the ride!! I give it a 8 out of 10.Now as far as the player goes thats another story. this was a great movie im not much of a nascar fan but he kids kill me and hes just a funny guy he was perfect for the part i rate 5-5 i mnean come on they even made a song about him
This film has the comedy that other films by these creators have, with constant pop culture references that pay off if you get it. And heck, if you don't, there's a good amount of really stupid humor, too (such as the imaginary fire). My favorite scene might be where they try to figure out how to pry out a knife from a man's leg.
Being from the Carolinas, I have no idea why I had not seen this before, although I knew about the movie - It was funny as all out and even put a tear in my eye - great acting and filming - thanks w-m-l.net again for another great movie 10/10 - and Sacha Baron Cohen was great, too
Love Will Ferrel and John C. Reilly, they always make good movies together, if you like this one you should definitely watch stepbrothers its the funniest movie i've ever seen.
