Christine Brown is responsible for loans in a bank and expects to be promoted to the open position of assistant manager after dealing a big contract. However, the new hire Stu Rubin is a collusive coworker that scheming against Christine to be selected by the manager Mr. Jacks to the position. When Mrs. Ganush, an old gypsy with appearance of witch that has been evicted by the bank, requests a third extension of her mortgage, Mr. Jacks tells Christine that it is her call. Christine denies the loan to prove her boss that she can take tough decisions. Mrs. Ganush begs for the loan but Christine... shames the woman calling the security. In the night, Christine is stalked by Mrs. Ganush in the parking lot and they struggle. Out of the blue, Mrs, Ganush removes a button from Christine's coat, curses it, returns the button to her and vanishes. Later, while going home with her psychologist boy-friend Clay Dalton, they pass by the fortune teller Rham Jas, and Christine decides to consult him. He advises her that Christine has the fiend Lamia, the Black Goat, upon her. When Christine is haunted by the dark spirit during the night, at home, she tries to fix the situation releasing the loan of Mrs. Ganush.

Masterpiece
Thank goodness one of our masters of horrer returns in a desturbingly chilling non stop jump fest that does not give up.
I watched this film 5 hours ago and still recovering, and I'm the type of person that thought they were ready for anything a film can offer.
Sam Raimi plugs into the deep psyche of the mind without relying on anything too direct like Saw which, frankly got boring and predictable after the first film, or too watered down copycats of Halloween, e.g. teen flicks Scream or I know what you did last summer.
This is a return to Sam Raimi's old school horrer which I dare anyone to see and not be pushed to look behind their hands or laughing unexpectant...

Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). This movie actually scared the crap out of me. I don't get scared by too many "Horror" movies but this one had me jumping like crazy. I'd give it 4.5/5
Dont watch this film alone,, It scared me too tears ! I dont mean to sound like a big baby but I think I'm gonna have nightmares tonight?? my hats off to Mr.Raimi and his people , they sure made a pretty freaky flick. Im sleeping with the covers over my head tonight YyIiikKeSss !
Good Movie .. but it has its very cheesy moments ! & that old lady was disgusting & getting on nerves popping out of nowhere ..! the dead part scenes were sick & vile .. 7.5 out of 10. [SPOILER]
if you have a light stomach - don't watch the gross parts!
I couldnt get into this crap the first time i watch. so i attempted a second and it still couldnt grab me. it felt a little too predictable at times. the ol broad was weird as hell tho and I found her quite funny actually lol.
Sam Raimi did a great job on this, it had plenty of suspense and a few gross out parts and a few funny parts. If you liked "The Evil Dead" trilogy then you will prolly like this.. Raimi seemed to be channeling old school Horror/Comedy from the 80's and 90's (A few scenes reminded me of a "Frightners" and "Death Becomes Her" type of feel to it).. [SPOILER]
My only problem was that the ending was way too perdictable.. It was a vintage Horror move though, thinking everything is perfect only to have it twisted right before the end.. Besides that this is a 5 star movie..
This Is macabre fun at its very best, lurching from wild laughs to beautifully choreographed scares like a locomotive threatening to leave the tracks....The objective of this film is simple. Build tension. Scream. Reveal scary thing. Scream. Relieve tension. Laugh. And start all over again.... And It works in spades!!
If your in the mood for a demented film thats thrilling and hilarious then this is the movie for you. And you will have a great time with it. Just don't expect anything serious!! because this movie doesn't take itself seriously at all, its just a superb piece of twisted hokum at its finest 5/5 10/10
